The locket opens with a little door to reveal an interior pierced gallery panel behind which a piece of scented cloth could be tucked to revive the wearer in case of fainting or to mask unpleasant doors

They do take some getting used to as they feature an early lever-back closure which loops through the back of the ear into a rivet at the top of the flower

It features a fist, embellished with floral chasing, and a matching slide. The chain is comprised of thin, interlocking box clasp links which are covered with fluid "scales". The chain easily retracts and expands when held and is truly ingenious in its construction. At the end of the chain, a hanging dog clip clasp opens by unscrewing a disc which
